Al Thakira Park

Situated along the coast near Al Khor and Al Dhakira in Qatar, is a vast beautiful mangrove forest. The area supports a lot of bird-life and is a favorite destination for nature lovers. Suitable for families and those looking for a relaxed, easy paddle taking in the greenery and bird-life of the nature reserve.

Inspired by this natural wonder, Al Thakira Park has been designed to mimic the form of the mangrove’s root system. The paths that link the spaces together follow this root formation and this is also depicted on the structures and shelters, with white “roots” on the facade and green roof above. The park experience is enhanced by the varying levels, featuring multi-leveled decks or flat areas for different activities. The retaining walls that separate these levels serve as seating for park users.
