Joseph Corbin & Phil Druery developed the Shields Streets scheme, detailed the design and supervised the construction of this important CBD spine for Cairns in Far North Queensland. The concept was to reinvigorate the centre of the commercial grid providing
a boulevard for cafes, strolling, shopping and socialising in a tropical cosmopolitan atmosphere.

The City of Cairns is still enjoying the rewards of this project after some years and the soft landscape has matured to enhance it further. The use of durable furnishings and pavements overlaid with public and community art has been the secret of the projects longevity
